Asbestos is usually used before until the mid 1970’s in most construction. It is used as a material for fire retardant. It is found in electric use, insulating products and ceiling and wall covers. Asbestos exposure causes debilitating, serious and fatal diseases. Most widespread forms of the disease caused by asbestos exposure are asbestosis, lung cancer, pleural plaques, and mesothelioma.
The mesothelioma asbestos cancer assaults mesothelium and usually found in the lung of the affected person. Asbestos is the only proven cause of Mesothelioma cancer in The US. Unlike the other types of cancer, the mesothelioma cancer is a cancer of the lungs’ lining and not one that arises inside the lung. It causes the mesothelium cells to become abnormal and reproduce significantly.
The Mesothelioma prognosis and treatment depends on the tumor size, the cancer stage, potential removal surgery for the tumor, amount of chest or abdomenal fluid, specific cancer cell, patient’s age and the overall health. Physical exam and medical test that evaluates rare asbestos cancer are used to determine the mesothelioma prognosis. Once it is determined, treatment is followed. Mesothelioma cancer is one of the deadliest diseases. Being exposed to asbestos fibers is so dangerous and fatal for it stick to the lungs and other respiratory parts. It the cancer cells spread, it is harder to treat and needs more chemo and radiation therapy.
